The problem
A service business needs its public website and client operations to work together. Booking, account access and payment state have to remain consistent, including when an external service retries an event.
How it works
The Next.js interface connects to a Convex backend, with Clerk for identity and Stripe for payments. The implementation includes public pages, a client portal and operational workflows around bookings and payment events.
Engineering decisions
The engineering work extends beyond page layout. Access checks, payment-state transitions, duplicate-event handling and recovery paths need explicit behavior so a transient failure does not become an inconsistent customer record.
What I verified
Type checking and 30 focused tests passed for portal access/auth state, checkout payment-status handling and refund claims.
Current limits
This case study describes implementation work. Live booking, payments and notifications are not demonstrated here. No client records, private source code or real transaction details are exposed.
