Sage for YouTube
A quieter YouTube interface focused on subscriptions and the videos you choose to watch.
Extension & interface development
Workflow
- Choose viewing preferences
- Simplify the page
- Watch intentionally
An explanation of the workflow, not an interactive application.
The problem
A video site’s interface can pull attention away from the reason someone opened it. Small changes to navigation and visible content can make intentional viewing easier.
How it works
Sage applies focused interface changes to YouTube and exposes preferences through the extension. It works on top of the existing site rather than replacing the video service.
Engineering decisions
The scope stays close to the user’s immediate task: choosing what to see and reducing distracting surfaces. That also means the extension depends on a third-party interface it does not control.
What I verified
The original extension source and settings/layout implementation were inspected.
Current limits
Compatibility with the current YouTube interface needs a fresh installed-extension check. No live extension behavior is simulated on this page.
Collaboration & credits
An independent extension for YouTube. YouTube and its content are not my work, and the project is not affiliated with the service.
